People have different views about the impact of advertising. Although there are a good number of arguments in favour that advertising persuades people to buy things, I believe that people buy things based on their needs rather than being influenced by advertisements.
On the one hand, some believe that advertisements tempt a person to shop because of two main reasons. Firstly, interest-related advertisements create a strong influence on the mind of an individual. For example, research shows that rate of sales increases tremendously when people are shown the products of their taste. If a person fond of baking is shown the latest bakeware, he or she will not resist shopping for that product. Secondly, the advertisement when shown in repetition strongly impacts the brain at a subconscious level. Due to this, one ultimately finds the product appealing. Hence, advertising influence people to buy things easily.
On the other hand, some consider advertisements so common, that they tend to ignore them. The primary reason being, adverts occupies almost half of the webpage because of which the essence of reading the actual content is lost. Therefore, people get irritated and tend to ignore the adverts and pop-ups. Nevertheless, regular interruption of advertisements is another reason that people tend to pay extra to avoid ads as it diverts them from the videos or subject matter where high concentration is demanded. Take an illustration, YouTube premium is highly demanded by the people to get rid of advertisements. Hence, people do not rely on advertisements for shopping as they are aware of the products of their need.
To conclude the aforementioned points, despite advertisements persuading people to shop, I assert that advertisements are overlooked by people, because not only it diverts the person’s concentration but also could be annoying at times.
